Adoptions – dogs and cats

Adopting an animal is a personal decision. Animals should never be given as gifts without the new owner being present in the entire adoption process. It should be the owner who chooses the dog or cat that best fits their character, lifestyle and tastes. An animal is not an object to be gifted but a living being in need of attention and care.

Children cannot be considered the owners or be responsible for the care of a dog or cat. If your son or daughter is desperate for a pet and you as a mother or father don’t have the time or inclination to look after it DO NOT ADOPT. Children are children and the notion soon wears off, especially when they realise the work and responsibility involved. The responsibility for the the animal always lies with the parents.

Below are some of the animals available for adoption, according to what you are looking for: dog, cat, male, female…

To see more, consult the complete list below each of the corresponding tabs in the top navigation bar.

Animals adopted from the shelter are chipped, vaccinated, treated for parasites, have their own vaccination booklet and are either sterilised or come with an arrangement for future sterilisation.

The costs of the above are met between the shelter and the adoptive owner.

Vaccinating your pet is the only way to avoid fatal illnesses such as parvovirus, hepatitis and distemper.

Sterilisation avoids unwanted litters and the subsequent abandoning of puppies.

The microchip is the best way to recover a lost pet, or in the case of an abandoned pet measures can be taken against the owner.
